Celia Petrig (born February 28, 1995 ) is a Swiss snowboarder . She took part in the Winter Youth Olympic Games for Switzerland in 2012 .

Career

Celia Petrig was able to qualify for the first staging of the Winter Youth Olympic Games , which were held in Innsbruck , and started there for Switzerland in the halfpipe and in the slopestyle competition. On January 15, 2012 she took tenth place in the halfpipe competition and on January 19, 2012 she took fourth place in the slopestyle competition. Shortly thereafter, she also took part in the 2012 Junior Snowboarding World Championships in the Sierra Nevada . While she finished tenth in the halfpipe, she won the bronze medal in the slopestyle competition on March 31, 2012.

Celia Petrig won a medal for the first time on September 16, 2012 at the Swiss Championships, which were held in Zermatt . In the Big Air competition she took third place behind Isabel Derungs and Elena Könz . Also in 2013 she took part in the Snowboard Junior World Championships , which this time were held in the Turkish city of Erzurum . On the halfpipe she took 13th place and in the slopestyle competition she won the bronze medal again. In the 2013/14 season she started in the Snowboard World Cup for the first time at the age of 19 . Her first competition was the slopestyle competition, which was held on March 6, 2013 in the Kreischberg ski area in Austria, and she took seventh place.

In the 2014/15 season she took part in the second part of the 2015 Winter Universiade , which was held in Granada , Spain . On February 7, 2015 she finished eighth on the halfpipe and on February 13, 2015 she won the slopestyle competition in front of Courtney Coy from the USA and Marion Haerty from France. On April 18, 2015, she won a medal at the Swiss championships for the second time. In the Big Air competition, which was held in the Corvatsch-Furtschellas ski area , she won the silver medal behind Elena Könz .

In the 2018/19 season , she took part in a big air competition in the World Cup for the first time and took eighth place on November 3, 2018. At the home world cup in Laax she started in the slopestyle competition and finished second behind Silje Norendal from Norway and ahead of her teammate Sina Candrian . At the end of the season, she finished seventh in the overall slopestyle ranking as the second best Swiss woman.
