occupation

DellaMorte DellAmore , also known as Cemetery Man and Zombie Graveyard , is a horror film that was released in Italy in 1994. It is based on a 1991 novella of the same name by the Italian author and comic book author Tiziano Sclavi .

action

Francesco Dellamorte does his job as a gravedigger in the cemetery of the small Italian town Buffalora, where he also lives in a shabby dwelling. He is supported in this by the spiritually retarded Gnaghi who lives under him.

The special thing about this cemetery is that after about seven days some of the newly buried rise from the graves as a kind of zombies . Francesco and Gnaghi see it as part of their task to finally send these resurrected people to the realm of the dead by shooting them in the head or beheading them.

The monotony of this activity is interrupted when, at a funeral, Francesco falls head over heels in love with a young widow who is paying her last respects to her late and much older husband.

After initially erotic scenes that take place in the ossuary of the cemetery, the act of love continues on the grave of the widow's deceased husband. However, the latter rises from the grave as a zombie and wounds the widow, who dies in Francesco's arms. Francesco keeps his beloved in the ossuary and waits for her to rise again after seven days in order to finally send her, like everyone else, to the realm of the dead. And indeed, she rises again and is finally killed by a shot by Francesco.

Francesco falls into severe depression, which is made worse by the fact that after another seven days his lover is standing in front of him again. So he has to find out that she wasn't really dead the first time, just seemingly dead, and that it was himself who killed her.

criticism

The lexicon of international films described the film as "a bloody horror film with good actors and a good dose of pitch-black humor, but one that is probably quite amusing for fans."
