The 1979/80 season was the 17th regular season of the Central Hockey League . The nine teams should complete 80 games each in the regular season, but the Cincinnati Stingers withdrew their team from play during the season, whereupon the schedule had to be changed. The Central Hockey League was played in a division . The team with the highest points in the regular season were the Salt Lake Golden Eagles , who also prevailed in the final games of the Adams Cup .
