The 1982/83 season was the 20th regular season of the Central Hockey League . The six teams completed 80 matches each in the regular season. The Central Hockey League was played in a division . The team with the highest points in the regular season were the Indianapolis Checkers , who also prevailed in the final games of the Adams Cup .

- The Dallas Black Hawks stopped the game.
- The Fort Worth Texans ceased gaming.
- The Nashville South Stars moved to the Atlantic Coast Hockey League .
- The Oklahoma City Stars stopped gaming.
- The Birmingham South Stars were added to the league as an expansion team.
- The Colorado Flames were added to the league as an expansion team.
