Chandler Catanzaro (* 26. February 1991 in Simpsonville , South Carolina ) is a former American American football poker players on the position of the Kickers . He played in the National Football League (NFL) for the Arizona Cardinals , New York Jets , Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and Carolina Panthers .

Early years

Catanzaro attended Christ Church Episcopal High School in Greenville , South Carolina . He later went to Clemson University , where he missed only one field goal for the college football team for the past two years .

NFL

In May 2014 he signed a contract with the Arizona Cardinals . Here he prevailed against Jay Feely before the season . On September 8, 2014, Catanzaro made his debut playing against the San Diego Chargers , where he scored two field goals. A week later, in the game against the New York Giants , he scored four field goals. On September 21, 2014, he scored a 51- yard field goal, a record for a rookie with the Arizona Cardinals. On October 26, 2014, he scored his 16th field goal in a row, an NFL record for a rookie. He expanded this series to 17. By the end of the season he had scored 29 field goals. On October 4, 2015, he scored five field goals in one game against the St. Louis Rams . On September 25, 2016, he scored a 60-yard field goal against the Buffalo Bills , which is his previous record.

In March 2018, he joined the Tampa Bay Buccaneers . In the game against the Cleveland Browns on October 21, 2018, he secured victory with a 59-yard field goal. He achieved the longest field goal in overtime that has ever been achieved in NFL history. Nevertheless, he was released from the Buccaneers on November 12, 2018. This was preceded by two missed field goals in the game against the Washington Redskins , which the Buccaneers lost 3:16 despite having gained 501 yards on the offensive.

Only a few days later, the Carolina Panthers signed Catanzaro for their regular kicker Graham Gano, who had an injured knee .

On March 15, 2019, the New York Jets announced the return of Catanzaro to their team. After he missed two of three extra points in the first game of the preaseason, Catanzaro announced his resignation.
