The Changgwang Street (also Changwang Street ) is a street in the North Korean capital Pyongyang .
history
The predecessor of Changgwang Street was called Ryunhwanson Street and already existed when Korea was under Japanese rule . Like almost the whole city, it was destroyed in the Korean War.
After the war, new buildings and the corresponding infrastructure were quickly erected. The rapid construction caused numerous problems with sewage , electricity and heating . Surprisingly, the Labor Party of Korea (PdAK) admitted errors in construction, which is still a rarity in North Korea today. Kim Il-sung spoke out in 1964 for a total demolition and a new building. However, it was not until 1979 that Kim Jong-il implemented the promise. Work began in 1980 and was completed by 1985. It is connected to the city's public transport network by the Pyongyang trolleybus .
course
The main station of Pyongyang and the Pothong Gate are connected via Changgwang Road . Around this there is a roundabout , which u. a. connected to Chollima Street . Many important state facilities (and thus many security facilities) as well as apartments, hotels and museums are located here. It is therefore of great importance. It is also sometimes referred to as a boulevard . The street is located in the Chung-guyŏk district .
