Chantal Brunner

Chantal Margarita Brunner (born November 5, 1970 in Wellington ) is a New Zealand athlete . She is New Zealand's record holder in the long jump and 4 x 100 meter relay disciplines . She also holds the New Zealand indoor record in the long jump. At a height of 1.67 m, her competition weight is 58 kg. She is trained by Johnathon Moyle. Their association is Counties Manukau.

She studied economics and law at Victoria University of Wellington and chairs the Athletes' Committee of the New Zealand Olympic Committee . Since 2010 she has been a member of the jury of the New Zealand Sports Tribunal, an arbitration tribunal in sports disputes.

Career history

She won 20 New Zealand championships: in the 200-meter run in 1989 (juniors), 1996 and 2006, in the 100-meter run in 1995, 1996, 2001, 2004, 2005 and 2006, in the long jump in 1995, 1996, 1998, 1999, 2001 , 2002, 2004, 2005 and 2006 as well as in the triple jump in 2004, 2005 and 2006. She won the Australian open long jump championships in 1996, 1997 and 2001.

At international championships she only competed in the long jump, but she did not make it to a medal in her participation in outdoor world championships ( 1995 , 1997 , 1999 and 2001 ) and indoors ( 1997 ), Commonwealth Games ( 1994 , 1998 , 2002 and 2006 ) and at the Olympic Games ( 1996 and 2000 ). Her best placing was fourth place with 6.56 m in the first attempt at the Commonwealth Games 2006 in Melbourne , where she missed the bronze medal, which went to Celine Laporte from the Seychelles , by an inch.

Her best distance in the long jump is 6.68 m. She jumped this New Zealand record on March 1, 1997 in Melbourne and on March 25, 2001 in Brisbane . In the triple jump, her best distance is 12.34 m, which she jumped on March 13, 2005 in Wanganui . Her best outdoor time in the 60-meter run was 7.69 s on November 19, 2005 in Gold Coast . Her fastest 100-meter time was 11.64 s from 1999 from Brussels , her best 200-meter time from 2001 was 24.02 s from Christchurch . In the hall she has a long jump with the New Zealand indoor record of 6.34 m, jumped on March 8, 1997 at the World Indoor Championships in Paris-Bercy . She ran her New Zealand record in the 4 x 100 meter relay together with Jane Arnott , Rebecca Wardell and Caro Hunt with 44.60 s on March 31, 2001 in Auckland.
