South of the stone circle was built in the 15th century Balquhain Castle , which fell into ruin since it was abandoned in 1746. Southwest was also in the early 15th century tower house , which over the centuries the mansion Pittodrie House has been expanded. The parish church of Chapel of Garioch goes back to a Lady Chapel, which Christian Bruce had built there in 1357. The current neo-Gothic parish church was built in 1813.
Between 1851 and 1881 the population of Chapel of Gariochs gradually decreased from 2102 to 1923.
