Charles C. Coleman
Charles Clifford "Buddy" Coleman, Jr. (born December 29, 1900 in Oakland , † May 25, 1972 in Los Angeles ) was an American film director and assistant director.
Life
Charles C. Coleman worked as an assistant director in Hollywood from 1927. In 1928 he was employed by Columbia Pictures , where he worked several times with director Frank Capra until 1937 . For his film In the Fetters of Shangri-La ( Lost Horizon ) Coleman received an Oscar nomination in 1938 in the former category Best Assistant Director . From 1934 to 1939, Coleman directed a number of B-films for Columbia , including four crime films with the young Rita Hayworth . In 1941 he moved to Paramount Pictures , where he frequently assisted Billy Wilder until 1964 .
