Charles Frederick Wright

Charles Frederick Wright (born May 3, 1856 in Forest Lake , Susquehanna County , Pennsylvania , †  November 10, 1925 in Susquehanna , Pennsylvania) was an American politician . Between 1899 and 1905 he represented the state of Pennsylvania in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Charles Wright was the younger brother of Congressman Myron Benjamin Wright (1847-1894). He attended the public schools of his home country and then until 1874 the Montrose Academy , also in the state of Pennsylvania. Between 1875 and 1899 he worked in various positions for the First National Bank of Susquehanna Depot . From 1882 he was its president. Politically, he joined the Republican Party . In the years 1896, 1904 and 1908 he took part as a delegate to the respective Republican National Conventions , at which William McKinley , Theodore Roosevelt and finally William Howard Taft were nominated as presidential candidates.

In the 1898 congressional election , Wright was elected to the 15th  constituency of Pennsylvania in the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC , where he succeeded James Hodge Codding on March 4, 1899 . After two re-elections, he was able to complete three legislative terms in Congress by March 3, 1905 . From 1903 he represented there as the successor to Marlin Edgar Olmsted the 14th district of his state. Also from 1903 he was chairman of the committee to control the expenditure of the Ministry of Agriculture. In 1904 he renounced another candidacy.

Between 1911 and 1913, Charles Wright was Treasurer of his home state; in 1915 and 1916 he served as the State Commissioner of Public Service . Then he worked again in the banking industry. He died in Susquehanna on November 10, 1925.
