Charles "Charlie" Simpkins (born October 19, 1963 in Aiken ) is a former American triple jumper .
He took part in the World Athletics Championships in Rome in 1987 , but retired after the qualifying round. At the IAAF World Indoor Championships in 1989 in Budapest , he finished ninth. He finally celebrated the greatest success of his career at the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona , when he won the silver medal behind his compatriot Mike Conley Sr. with a width of 17.60 m .
With his personal best of 17.86 m, set up in 1985 in Kobe , Charles Simpkins took third place in the all-time list of the best at that time. He was US champion (1986 and 1992) and university champion (1985 and 1987) in the triple jump twice . He is 1.85 m tall and weighed 72 kg when he was active.
