Check Your Head is the third studio album by the hip-hop band Beastie Boys . It was released in April 1992.
history
In contrast to the previous album , the Beastie Boys returned to their punk rock roots with Check Your Head . For the first time since their first EPs they also played the instruments themselves. The album was recorded in the G-son studios in Atwater Village , California . It was the first album entirely co-produced by Mario Caldato Jr. The album peaked at number 10 on the Billboard 200 .
In 2009 a deluxe edition was released on 2 CDs or 2 LPs with new songs, remixes and live recordings.

The Allmusic website gave the album the highest rating. Stephen Thomas Erlewine wrote that the record set trends and anticipated them.
Pitchfork Media ranked it 34th on the best albums of the 1990s.
Jeff Weiss called Check Your Head the “greatest masterpiece” of rap rock .
“ To write with this heavy rumbling, scratching and grooving work of ' eclecticism ' would be an understatement. Guitars, drums and organ were mixed into the sound collages, chatter cascades and slogans, which is why the Beastie Boys topped the lists of critics in 1992. "
