Cheilosa montana is a tree in the milkweed family from central Southeast Asia . It is the only species in the genus Cheilosa .

description

Cheilosa montana grows as a tree to about 30 meters high. The trunk, which is fluted at the base, is around 50 centimeters in diameter.

The simple and stalked, bare leaves are alternate. The petiole, up to 8.5 centimeters long, is basal and thickened at the tip. The pointed to pointed or rounded leaves are usually slightly serrated at the edge, notched to finely toothed. They are up to 32.5 inches long and 16 inches wide. The leaf margin has glands on the underside of the teeth. The leaves are slightly hairy underneath. The very small stipules fall off early.

Cheilosa montana is dioecious diocesan . There are terminal or axillary and ramiflore, astständige and traubige to panicles , silky hairy inflorescences formed. There are various small bracts and cover sheets. The very small, stalked flowers with a simple envelope are greenish and usually five-fold, the petals are missing. The mostly 5 egg-shaped, slightly silky hairy sepals are free and roof-top, they are up to 1.5-3.2 millimeters long. The male flowers have 9–10 free stamens in two circles and a pestle. The slightly larger female flowers have a top permanent, multi-chamber (3-4) and shortly hairy, egg-shaped ovary with almost sessile, tongue-shaped, and the upper side papillose, sweeping and short two-column stigma lobes . There is one hairy and often lobed discus .

3.5–5 centimeters in size, round to egg-shaped and greenish to yellow, fine-haired, woody-corky capsule fruits with up to three seeds are formed. The 2.5–3.3 centimeters large, blackish and smooth, egg-shaped seeds are covered by an orange, oily aril .

distribution

Cheilosa montana occurs in Malaysia , Sumatra , Borneo, Java and the Philippines.

use
