Chester Frazier (born April 14, 1986 in Baltimore , Maryland ) is an American basketball player . Frazier played for the German first division club s.Oliver Baskets Würzburg since November 2011 .

Career

During his undergraduate studies at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign from 2005 onwards , Frazier played for the college team Fighting Illini in the Big Ten Conference of the NCAA Division I. The Fighting Illini were runner-up in the NCAA Division I Basketball Championship in 2005 with Deron Williams . During the four years that Frazier played for the team, they qualified three times for the finals, but could not advance to the second round.

Frazier then switched to the German basketball league as a professional and played in the 2009/10 season with the BG 74 from Göttingen . Internationally, they won only the third title of a German club team in a European club competition at the Final Four tournament of the EuroChallenge 2010 in front of their own audience. In the play-offs for the national championship, however, they were eliminated in the first round just in the final seconds of the decisive game of the series. While his Illinois team-mate Trenton Meacham moved to BG Göttingen for the following season, Frazier left the club and began a master's degree at his alma mater and initially worked as a video coordinator in the coaching staff of the Fightinglassung, which gave him a more secure income.

The contact with Göttingen's trainer John Patrick never broke off and when he switched to the first division s.Oliver Baskets from Würzburg in 2011 , he was able to persuade Frazier to make a comeback as a player. There he plays with other former teammates from Göttingen whom Patrick brought to Würzburg. In the basketball Bundesliga 2011/12 , the newcomer was able to qualify straight away for the play-offs, in which one of the title favorites was eliminated in the first round with runner-up Alba Berlin . In May 2012 Frazier asked for the termination of his contract in order to be able to accept a job as an assistant coach at Kansas State University in the USA . Despite the ongoing playoff series against Ratiopharm Ulm , his request was granted.
