Chevalier-Montrachet is a wine location classified as Grand Cru on the Côte d'Or in French Burgundy . It is located in the municipality of Puligny-Montrachet in the Côte de Beaune . The Chevalier-Montrachet site has had its own appellation since July 31, 1937 and, with a size of 7.47 hectares, is one of the smaller appellation in France. Only white wine is produced . Of the total of 5 Montrachet locations, Chevalier-Montrachet is the highest on the slope and, together with the Montrachet, enjoys the best reputation. Below is the Grand Cru Montrachet and the Premier Cru Lage Les Caillerets . In the south, but already in the area of ​​the municipality of Chassagne-Montrachet, the Premier Cru Lage En Remilly follows.

Climate and geology

The Chevalier-Montrachet vineyard is located on a 10 percent steep slope at an altitude of 265-300 m above sea level . The situation is usually spared late frosts. The climate is assigned to the Burgundian transitional climate, in which continental influences predominate over maritime influences. The Chardonnay thrives excellently in a southeast orientation.

The white wines of the Grand Cru Lage are made from the Chardonnay grape variety.
