Cheyenne Jackson (born July 12, 1975 in Newport , Washington ) is an American singer , actor and musical performer .

Movie

Cheyenne Jackson's best-known film role to date is that of US aircraft passenger Mark Bingham in the Oscar-nominated film Flight 93 , which traces the events of Flight United 93 on September 11, 2001 . He also appeared in the short film Curiosity .

Far better known is Cheyenne Jackson's work as a musical performer on New York's Broadway . Jackson made his debut as the understudy of both male lead roles in the Tony-winning musical Thoroughly Modern Millie . Soon after, he was hired as the understudy of the Radame in Aida . He also played the role of Matthew in the off-Broadway production of Altar Boyz . In 2005 he finally got his first leading role on Broadway in the musical homage to Elvis Presley: All Shook Up . His performance earned him consistently good reviews, as well as the Theater World Award and numerous nominations from the Drama League and the Outer Critics Circle Awards for Outstanding Lead Actor.

In June 2007, less than a week before the premiere, Jackson got the lead role as Sonny in the Broadway production Xanadu . He took on the role of James Carpinello, who was injured during rehearsals for the roller-skating musical. For his performance in Xanadu, he again earned numerous nominations. Xanadu himself has also been nominated several times for the Tony, including as "Best New Musical".

In 2008 Jackson starred with Jane Krakowski and Sean Hayes (Will & Grace) in the New York production of Damn Yankees .

At the regional level, Jackson played roles in the West Side Story , The Most Happy Fella , Children of Eden , Hair , Carousel and the Rocky Horror Show, among others .

Jackson is openly gay . In 2011, after 11 years of relationship, he married his partner Monte Lapka. At the end of July 2013, it became known that the two separated after a total of 13 years of relationship.

In October 2013, Jackson announced he was in a relationship with actor Jason Landau. The two became engaged in February 2014 and married in September 2014. At the beginning of October 2016 the two became parents of twins with the help of a surrogate mother .

He is an advocate of gay and lesbian rights and supports numerous AIDS foundations, including AMFAR and Broadway Cares / Equity Fights AIDS . In 2008 he was voted (gay) entertainer of the year by Out Magazine . Jackson partly has Indian roots on his father's side, hence his first name.
