Chiutari (also Chiutari Alto ) is a scattered settlement in the Potosí department in the South American Andean state of Bolivia .

Location in the vicinity

Chiutari is the largest town in the municipality of Chaquí in the province of Cornelio Saavedra . It is located at an altitude of 3599  m on the banks of the Quebrada Chimpa Mayu , which flows one kilometer downstream into the Río Tehuarani , whose water flows further over the Río Puna , the Rio Miculpaya and the Río Mataca to the Río Pilcomayo .

Chiutari lies between the Bolivian Altiplano in the west and the Cordillera Central in the east. The climate of the region is semi-arid and a typical time of day climate , in which the mean temperature fluctuations during the day are greater than during the year.

Chiutari is 34 kilometers by road east of Potosí , the capital of the department.

From Potosí, the national highway Ruta 5 leads northeast via Betanzos to Sucre and on towards Santa Cruz in the Bolivian lowlands. Halfway between Potosí and Betanzos, an asphalt country road branches off to the south in the direction of Chaquí , after seven kilometers an unpaved country road leads west to Chiutari, one kilometer away .
