Candido held the title at a time when the NWA no longer had any TV contracts and the ECW, the last NWA branch with a TV contract, had separated from it.

His title defense took place mostly in independent doctorates. Candido lost the title on February 24, 1995 to Dan Severn , who also defended the title in Japan .

Then he teamed up again with Shane Douglas and Bam Bam Bigelow (for legal reasons one could not use the previous name, as it was a trademark of the ECW). Even before the storyline started , his friend Tammy Lynn Sytch was fired by the WCW in the summer of 2000 because various drugs and drugs were found in her locker room.
