Christopher Duan "Chris" Johnson (* 23. September 1985 in Orlando , Florida ) is a former American American football poker players in the position of running backs . He played for the Tennessee Titans , New York Jets and Arizona Cardinals in the National Football League (NFL), only to step down as a Titans player in April 2019 after signing a one-day contract.

Career

college

Johnson played at East Carolina University while in college . He was selected in the first round in 2008 in 24th place of the NFL Draft by the Tennessee Titans after he had achieved the fastest time ever recorded for a running back with 4.24 seconds in the 40-yard sprint in the previous NFL Combine .

NFL

Tennessee Titans

In his first year as a professional he was elected to the Pro Bowl and finished second behind Matt Ryan in the election for Offensive Rookie of the Year . He succeeded in doing this, although he took turns in his position with his teammate LenDale White .

Since the 2009 season , he filled the role alone and led the NFL with 2006 yards . After Eric Dickerson , Jamal Lewis , Barry Sanders , Terrell Davis and OJ Simpson , he is the sixth player who managed to run over 2000 yards in one season. For this achievement he was voted Offensive Player of the Year . Also in his second season he was elected to the Pro Bowl.

New York Jets

On April 16, 2014, Johnson signed a two-year deal with the New York Jets . After an unconvincing season, the contract was terminated in spring 2015.

Arizona Cardinals

He then received a one-year contract from the Arizona Cardinals . In March 2016 he signed a new working paper for another season there.

He was shot in a drive-by shoot on March 8, 2015 in Orlando and the driver of the vehicle died.

After the 2016 season , Johnson was released into the Free Agency , although the Cardinals hoped that he would sign a new contract with them.

After several layoffs and reinstatements in the 2017 season , in which he only played four games, Chris Johnson finally announced his retirement in November 2018 after a 10-year career in the NFL. Due to his old ties with the Tennessee Titans, he signed a one-day contract again on April 24, 2019 to resign as a Titans player.
