Christopher Scott "Chris" Kramer (born April 4, 1988 in Huntington , Indiana ) is an American basketball player who has been playing for the Russian club BK Chimki in the VTB United League since 2019 .

Life

Kramer attended Huntington North High School, where he played basketball, football and baseball. In his last season he led the "Vikings" to a total of 18 wins with only 3 defeats and in 2006 was appointed to the Indiana All Star Team alongside current NBA players such as Greg Oden and Michael Conley Jr.

He then decided on Purdue University , which he led in the first year in the ball wins category and was then rewarded with the nomination for the "Big Ten All-Defensive Team". With the "Boilermakers" he reached the NCAA tournament at the same time, where, after a first round win over Arizona State University , only failed in the second round to defending champion Florida.

In his second year, too, he lived up to his reputation as a defensive specialist, leading the team when it came to winning the ball and making basket assists, and this time was even named “Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year”.

In the following season, in which Kramer held the role of captain for the first time, he and the team reached the "Sweet Sixteen" round in the NCAA tournament for the first time in nine years and was again elected to the Big Ten-All Defensive Team.

Going back to the season as captain, Purdue made it into the "Sweet Sixteen" for the second time in a row, but had to admit defeat to the renowned Duke University . Kramer received the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year award for the second time.

After his time in college, Kramer played for the NBA club Indiana Pacers in the Summer League and took part in the Milwaukee Bucks training camp . However, after he was not appointed to their final squad for the 2010/11 season, he completed a season for the Fort Wayne Mad Ants in the NBA D-League .

He spent the following summer with the Puerto Rican first division club Mets de Guaynabo before being signed by the German first division promoted s.Oliver Baskets shortly before the start of the 2011/12 season. There, too, he made a name for himself as a defensive specialist, but was also the team's best basket hunter with 11.2 points per game.

After a successful first season in Würzburg, which advanced to the semi-finals for the German championship, he signed a one-year contract with league rivals EWE Baskets Oldenburg for the 2012/13 season, which was extended by one year to 2014 in the summer of 2013 and includes an option for a further year until 2015. In the summer of 2014, Kramer signed another contract with EWE Baskets, which runs until 2016, in which an NBA exit clause is set out in the summer of 2014. In order to present himself for the NBA, Kramer ran for the Houston Rockets in the NBA Summer League . At the end of the 2016/2017 season, Kramer left EWE Baskets and signed a one-year contract with the Lithuanian club Rytas Vilnius , which was extended in 2018. In 2019 Kramer moved to Russia for BK Chimki.
