Chris Welcome

Chris Welcome (* 1980 in New York City ) is an American jazz guitarist (also cello , accordion ).

Live and act

Welcome grew up in Chicago, where he took lessons from Frank Portolese. He studied at Rutgers University with Vic Juris , Stanley Cowell and Ralph Bowen . Since 2004 he has been working in the New York music scene, a. a. with bands and musicians such as Mothguts , Sam Mickens' Ecstatic Showband and Revue, Trio Caveat, Mike Pride ( Drummer's Corpse , AUM Fidelity 2012), Ben Gerstein , Daniel Carter , Jonathan Moritz , James Ilgenfritz , Lisa Mezzacappa , Jeffrey Hayden and Kirk Knuffke . In 2006 his debut album Wound Unwound and Within was created in a trio with Shayna Dulberger and John McLellan . In the field of jazz he was involved in 13 recording sessions between 2004 and 2012. He also wrote compositions for his own quartet and for various chamber ensembles.
