John McLellan (musician)

John McLellan (* 1968 in San Juan , Puerto Rico ) is an American jazz - drummer , who is also active in the improvised music.

Live and act

McLellan grew up in Massachusetts and worked since the 1990s a. a. with Joe Maneri , Roswell Rudd , Bern Nix , Roy Campbell , William Parker , Ken Vandermark , Denman Maroney , Ben Monder and in the Either / Orchestra . During this time he also took part in recordings of Pandelis Karayorgis , Mat Maneri ( Pentagon , 2005), Charlie Kohlhase and John McPhee (duo album Grand Marquis , Boxholder , 1999). In the 2000s he played in the Trio Caveat (with James Ilgenfritz and Jonathan Moritz ), Jeff Platz / Blaise Siwula (with whom he appeared at the Münster International Jazz Festival), Nobu Stowe , Mike Pride and in The ERA (with Chris Welcome, among others , Shayna Dulberger , Jonathan Moritz, Marcus Cummins and Ryan Snow). In the field of jazz he was involved in 24 recording sessions between 1994 and 2012.
