Christa Bannach , also Christina Bannach , later Christa Rösler (* around 1942 ) is a former German table tennis player . She was one of the best players in the GDR in the late 1950s and early 1960s and won the GDR championship four times.

Career

Christa Bannach began her career in 1953 at Verein Chemie Lichtenberg and later switched to SC Einheit Berlin , which was transferred to TSC Berlin in 1963 . In 1957 she was GDR youth champion in doubles. A year later she made it to the final in doubles at the European Youth Championships in Falkenberg. With TSC Berlin she won the GDR team championship in 1956, 1958 and 1964. At the individual championships for women she won the title four times, namely in 1959, 1960 and 1961 in doubles with Sigrun Kunz and in 1960 in mixed with Heinz Schneider . She reached the final five more times: in 1960 and 1961 in singles, in 1962 in doubles with Ingrid Hollmann and in mixed 1959 with Dieter Knappe and 1961 with Lothar Pleuse . In 1964, Bannach moved to the Post Berlin club, with whose women's team she immediately made it to the GDR league.

Internationally, Bannach represented the GDR at the European Championships in 1958 and 1960 and at the World Championships in 1959 and 1961 .

In 1958 she was ranked third in the GDR.

Private

She married around 1964 and then performed under the name Rösler .
