Sigrun Kunz (born June 11, 1939 in Chemnitz ) is a German table tennis player . In the early 1960s she was one of the best players in the GDR.

National successes

She won nine titles at the national GDR championships. From 1960 to 1962 she was individual champion three times in a row. In doubles she won in 1959, 1960 and 1961 with Christa Bannach and in 1962 with Doris Kalweit . There are also two mixed titles, 1959 with Heinz Reimann and 1962 with Lothar Pleuse . She reached second place three times, in 1963 in singles behind Doris Kalweit, in 1966 in mixed with Wolfgang Schmidt and in 1967 in doubles with Ingrid Lemke.

Coming from the clubs Wismut Wilkau (since 1952) and later activist Zwickau, she was team champion of the GDR four times in a row with the Club SC Einheit Dresden from 1960 to 1963. She later moved to BSG Motor Dresden-Niedersedlitz, from which the BSG Sachsenwerk Dresden emerged.

International appearances

Sigrun Kunz completed a total of 15 international matches for the GDR between 1959 and 1963. She was nominated three times for participation in world championships: 1959 , 1961 and 1963 . In 1960 she played at the European Championship .

Private

In the mid-1960s, Kunz married and then appeared under the name Sigrun Legler . On December 26, 1964, she became the mother of a girl. Today she lives in Rheinsberg. Here she has been running the table tennis club since 1991.
