During this time, the Hanau telephone counseling engaged her to train and supervise the volunteer workers.

In addition to her pastoral work, Christa Blanke emerged as an animal rights activist from the mid-1980s. To draw attention to the suffering of the laboratory animals of the Frankfurt chemical company Hoechst , she celebrated a service in front of the factory gates in 1986 under the motto “Hoechst, have mercy!” . In 1987 she celebrated a service with animals on the Römerberg in Frankfurt as part of the 22nd German Evangelical Church Congress . In the same year she collected 13,000 signatures on a petition to the Evangelical Church in Hesse and Nassau not to use eggs from battery cells in church facilities. (Action Church and Animals), which campaigns for the rights of animals in church and society. In 1995 Christa Blanke became aware of the Europe-wide animal transports through media reports and in 1998 founded the animal welfare association Animals' Angels , which under her leadership became internationally known as the only specialist organization for animal welfare on transports .

In 2018 she can be seen in the animal rights film Citizen Animal - A Small Family's Quest for Animal Rights .
