Christian Albrecht Döderlein (born December 11, 1714 in Segringen , † November 4, 1789 in Bützow ) was a German theologian . He was professor of theology and founding rector of the Friedrichs University in Bützow.

Döderlein studied theology in Jena , was a private tutor in Mecklenburg and with the Count of Promnitz in Niederlausitz . In 1752 he became inspector at the orphanage in Halle (Saale) , a year later preacher at the Moritzkirche there. As a pietist , he was appointed full professor of theology and consistorial councilor at the University of Rostock in 1758 by Duke Friedrich zu Mecklenburg . However, the faculty's orthodox professorships rejected his appointment. The dispute escalated to a solid dispute between the sovereign and the city council of Rostock. Friedrich founded his own ducal university in Bützow in autumn 1760. Döderlein became its founding rector. He also held the office of rector in 1761 and 1767.

When the Bützow University was abolished again after Friedrich's death by his successor Friedrich Franz I in 1789 and reunited with Rostock, Döderlein was not accepted into the teaching staff there. He died a little later.
