Christian Alexander (lawyer)

Christian Alexander (* 1974 ) is a German law scholar and university professor .

Life

Alexander studied 1993-1998 jurisprudence at the Ernst-Moritz-Arndt University of Greifswald . From 1998 to 2001 he worked there, initially as a student assistant and later as a research assistant at the chair for civil law, comparative law , business and tax law at Axel Beater . He then became a doctor of law doctorate and completed subsequently his legal traineeship (clerkship) in the district of the Kammergericht Berlin with stations u. a. in the Charité's legal department and the Federal Ministry of Justice .

After passing the second state examination , he worked from 2003 to 2009 as a research assistant at the Institute for International Law - European and International Business Law of Helmut Köhler at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich . In 2009 he completed his habilitation at the Ludwig Maximilians University and received the license to teach civil law, European private law , German and European business law, media law and civil procedural law . From 2009 to 2011 Alexander took over the representation of the chair for civil law, antitrust law , commercial, company and business law at the Friedrich Schiller University Jena .

Since 2011 he has been a university professor at the Friedrich Schiller University Jena and holds the chair for civil law, commercial law and media law.

Research activity

The research profile includes civil law , business law and media law under the overarching guiding principle of the Europeanization and digitization of law. Specifically, Alexander researches and teaches in the areas of German and European fair trading and antitrust law , media law (both classic media law and IT law) and consumer protection under civil law .

Editorships

Together with Helmut Köhler, Alexander publishes the legal journal Competition in Law and Practice (WRP) . In addition, he is co-editor of the series "Writings on Competition Law" (together with Jörg Fritzsche and Tobias Lettl ), "Jena Studies on German, European and International Business Law" (together with Walter Bayer , Volker Jänich , Christoph Ohler and Giesela Rühl ) and " Art, Culture and Law "(together with Olaf Werner ).
