from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Christian Bethmann (* August 21, 1783 ; † July 8, 1833 ) was a German organ builder from Linden (today Hanover ). His organ in Posthausen , which has 18 stops on two manuals and a pedal , is largely preserved .

Life

Bethmann was born in 1783. He was a court organ builder and built a total of twelve new organs and carried out at least four jobs (primarily repairs) on other organs. He died in 1833.

He is probably the son of Wilhelm Heinrich Bethmann (* May 1, 1745; † December 27, 1802), who was also a court organ builder in Hanover, but also built stringed keyboard instruments such as harpsichords and clavichords . In 1782 Baethmann married into the organ builder family Christian Vater .
