Christian Conrad Nopitsch

Christian Conrad Nopitsch (born May 28, 1759 in Kirchensittenbach , † August 4, 1838 in Schönberg (Lauf an der Pegnitz) ) was a German Protestant pastor , Nuremberg local historian and lexicographer .

Christian Conrad Nopitsch came from the Nopitsch family, who had to flee the market town of Gresten in Lower Austria in the middle of the 17th century due to their Protestant beliefs and settled in the area of ​​the imperial city of Nuremberg (in "Petzensteinerhüll", today Hüll (Betzenstein) ). He was next to the future music director in Nördlingen, Christoph Friedrich Wilhelm Nopitsch (1758-1824), one of four sons of the pastor Conrad Nopitsch (1722-1790).

Life

Christian Conrad Nopitsch received lessons from his father in Latin , Greek , Hebrew and French . From 1777 he studied at the University of Altdorf theology . He then worked as a tutor in Nuremberg, but he had to leave this position after a year because he had to help out his father in his pastor in Pommelsbrunn . In 1792 Christian Conrad Nopitsch was finally appointed pastor in Altenthann (Schwarzenbruck) . For the historian and professor Georg Andreas Will , whom he knew from his studies in Altdorf, Nopitsch was house librarian until his death in 1798 . After Georg Andreas Will's death in 1801, Nopitsch published a second edition of Will's "History of the Nuremberg University of Altdorf" with supplements and, from 1802 to 1808, in a new form, the independent supplement to the Nuremberg Scholars' Lexicon, also in four volumes.

Nopitsch was married to Felicitas Christiana Guettlers, the daughter of a Nördlingen businessman. The marriage resulted in four sons and three daughters, of whom only one daughter survived:
