Christian Dünnes (born June 16, 1984 in Siegen ) is a German national volleyball player .

Career

Dünnes began his career at the local TV Dresselnorf. For his further education he switched to the volleyball boarding school in Frankfurt . There he was signed by VC Olympia Berlin and played his first games in the first Bundesliga .

With the German offspring, he reached fifth place at the 2001 European Youth Championship and eighth place at the 2003 Junior World Championship.

In 2004 a short stage at evivo Düren followed before a serious knee injury forced a long break. On the recommendation of the German national coach Stelian Moculescu , who knew Dünnes from over 60 youth and junior international matches , the universal player switched to the Italian first division club Copra Piacenza in 2005 , with whom he won the European Top Teams Cup in 2006 . In 2006, Dünnes made his debut in the senior national team .

After four years in the Italian league, Dünnes returned to the volleyball Bundesliga club evivo Düren in 2009. The volleyball magazine jury voted him the “most valuable player” and the best attacking player of the 2009/10 Bundesliga season . In 2011 he moved to Generali Haching and was German runner-up in the 2011/12 season. In addition, Dünnes was honored as the MVP (Most Valuable Player) of the season. At the 2012 Olympic Games in London , Dünnes reached fifth place with the national team. In the 2012/13 season he won the DVV Cup with Haching. Then Dünnes moved to league competitor VfB Friedrichshafen , where he won the cup again in 2014 . Then he was hired by the German champion Berlin Recycling Volleys . Both in the playoff final of the Bundesliga , which was only decided after five games, and in the quarterfinals of the DVV Cup , the Berliners had to admit defeat to VfB Friedrichshafen. In 2015, Dünnes moved to the newly promoted United Volleys Rhein-Main . He temporarily returned to the national team for the qualifying tournament for the 2016 Olympic Games . With the Frankfurters he reached third place in the league and the cup semi-finals twice . In 2017, Dünnes ended his professional career and became the new sports director of the German Volleyball Association .
