Christian Freund (* 1990 in Lüdenscheid ) is a German actor .

Live and act

Freund completed a master's degree in German studies ( modern German literature and linguistics ) at the Ruhr University in Bochum and then studied acting at the "Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy" University of Music and Theater in Leipzig . During his studies he played in theater productions a. a. at the Rottstrasse 5 theater in Bochum, at the Berliner Arbeiter-Theater , at the TJG Dresden , at the Folkwang UdK and at the Schauspielhaus Bochum .

From 2015 to 2017 he was a member of the drama studio of the Staatsschauspiel Dresden , where he played a. a. in Hamlet (director: Roger Vontobel ) and staged at the Bürgerbühne. The studio production by Michael Kohlhaas (director: Philipp Lux ) was awarded 4 prizes at the Istropolitana Festival 2016 in Bratislava . a. with the main prize of the festival. In the 2016/17 season he was also a guest at the Schauspiel Dortmund and played a. a. at the Theatertreffen der Berliner Festspiele 2017 The Borderline Procession (director: Kay Voges ). From 2017 to 2020 Freund was an ensemble member at the Schauspiel Dortmund.

In 2019 he was invited again to the Theatertreffen of the Berliner Festspiele with Das Internat (director: Ersan Mondtag ), and to the NRW Theatertreffen with Der Theatermacher (director: Kay Voges), where the production was awarded the Youth Jury Prize.

From the 2020/21 season, Freund is a permanent member of the ensemble at Theater Bremen .

So far he has worked a. a. with Armin Petras , Kay Voges , Sascha Hawemann , Thorleifur Örn Arnarsson , Rainald Grebe , Jörg Buttgereit , Sapir Heller , Paolo Magelli , Ersan Mondtag , Holk Freytag , Gordon Kämmerer and Johannes Lepper .

In addition to the theater, Freund also works as a speaker and shoots for film and television. His short film "Threshold" was invited to the 70th Cannes International Film Festival in 2017 .
