Christian Held (born November 30, 1961 in Meisenheim am Glan) is a German lawyer specializing in energy law . He is name partner of the law firm Becker Büttner Held (BBH) with an office in Berlin and honorary professor at the Technical University of Bingen for energy law and energy policy .

Life

After graduating from Paul-Schneider-Gymnasium in Meisenheim and doing his civil service, Held studied law at the Philipps University in Marburg an der Lahn . In 1992 he joined the newly founded law firm Becker, Büttner & Partner, which has been trading as Becker Büttner Held since 1997. Christian Held has been a partner in the firm since 1993.

In 1992 Christian Held took over the management of the Disibodenberg winery near Odernheim at the confluence of the Glans and Nahe as a personally liable partner . He is also a partner and managing director of the Meisenheimer Hof hotel and the Boos von Waldeckschen Hofbrennerei in Meisenheim am Glan. Between 2005 and 2009, the Boos von Waldecksche Hof was renovated by Christian Held in accordance with the preservation of historical monuments, for which he received the Federal Prize for Crafts in Monument Preservation.

Christian Held is married and lives with his wife and two children in Berlin and Meisenheim.

As part of the structure of the BBH Group, Christian Held is chairman of the supervisory board of invra Treuhand AG and Becker Büttner Held Consulting AG. He is a member of a large number of other committees and institutions.

Held is the initiator and chairman of Associated European Energy Consultants (AEEC), a network of law firms specializing in energy law in Europe. It unites leading law firms from the countries of the European Union and beyond and has links from the USA to Kazakhstan. Christian Held is co-initiator and deputy chairman of the Institute for Climate Protection, Energy and Mobility eV (IKEM). The institute, an affiliated institute of the University of Greifswald , has had advisory status as a non-governmental organization with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations since 2017 .

Christian Held is also Vice President of GEODE . This association of independent electricity and gas distribution companies in Europe supplies around sixty million customers from the Iberian Peninsula to Bulgaria. In addition, he often works as an expert and appraiser for European and national institutions in the field of energy law.

Christian Held has been a lecturer in energy law , environmental law and energy policy at the Technical University of Bingen since the summer semester 2013 . In 2017 he was appointed honorary professor.

Awards

In the ranking of the Handelsblatt and the US publisher Best Lawyers , Christian Held was named one of “Germany's best lawyers” in 2015 and 2016 in energy law. In the law firm's handbook Legal 500 Germany (2016, 2017 and 2018) he is highlighted in the area of ​​regulatory law / energy sector.

Christian Held is the bearer of the seal of the city of Meisenheim in recognition of his great services to the interests of the citizens of the city of Meisenheim.
