Christian Neidhart (born October 1, 1968 in Braunschweig ) is a German soccer coach and former player. He has been the head coach of Rot-Weiss Essen since July 2020 .
Career
As a player
Neidhart first played for Eintracht Braunschweig. In 1988 he played for Wacker 04 Berlin for half a year . He then moved to VfL Osnabrück, where he was a regular for two seasons. In the winter of 1990/91 he was loaned to FC Sachsen Leipzig . From 1993 to 2005 he played mostly for different teams in lower class leagues. From January to April 1998 he played for the Chengdu Blades in China .
As a trainer and functionary
Neidhart was initially an assistant trainer at VfB Oldenburg and BV Cloppenburg . In the summer of 2010 he became assistant coach at SV Wilhelmshaven . When Wolfgang Steinbach resigned from head coach in the summer of 2011 for health reasons, Neidhart was promoted to head coach.
For the 2013/14 season, Neidhart moved to SV Meppen as sporting director and succeeded Rainer Persike . After separating from head coach Heiko Flottmann , he also took over as coach at SV Meppen in May 2013 for the following season. The association extended its contract on December 18, 2016 by two years, that is provisionally until 2019.
After SV Meppen's promotion to the 3rd league in the summer of 2017, Neidhart completed his football teacher training at the Hennes-Weisweiler Academy in Hennef and received the UEFA Pro license on March 19, 2018 in Gravenbruch .
After seven years in Meppen, the Lower Saxony successor to Christian Titz as head coach of the regional league team Rot-Weiss Essen for the 2020/21 season .
