As a sculptor, Christian Plattner was a naturalist influenced by Auguste Rodin's impressionism . He dealt with patriotic topics from Tyrolean history, for which he found recognition during his lifetime and also received numerous prizes. In 1907 he received the 1st prize of the State of Tyrol for the design of a large Speckbacher monument, which also won 2nd prize at the exhibition in the Munich Glass Palace in 1909 . The fact that only part of it, the Anno Neun group , could be carried out, however, disappointed Plattner so much that he turned to painting in his later years (exhibition of portrait sketches and pastel pictures in the Czichna Gallery in Innsbruck in 1911 and 1919).
