During the winter break of the 1997/98 season he moved to the Bundesliga club FK Austria Wien . In June 1998 he made his debut for Austria when he came on in the first round second leg in the UI Cup against Ruch Chorzów in the 77th minute for Michael Gruber . Two minutes after his substitution, he scored the goal to make it 2-2. Schreiber made his Bundesliga debut in July 1998 when he was brought into play for Gernot Plassnegger in the 81st minute against SK Sturm Graz on the first day of the 1998/99 season . He played his last game for the first team of Austria in October 1998, from then on he was only used for the third-class amateurs.

For the 2001/02 season he moved to the Tyrolean regional league team WSG Wattens , for which he completed eight regional league games. In the summer of 2002 he moved to the Regionalliga Mitte for SVG Bleiburg . After a year with Bleiburg, he joined the league competitor SV Spittal / Drau . In 2004 he returned to the VST Völkermarkt. After another six seasons at Völkermarkt, he moved to the 2010/11 season for league competitor SV Griffen , with whom he was relegated in 2011, however, from the fourth-highest division.

He then played at ASKÖ Mittlern and FC Poggersdorf before ending his active career after the 2012/13 season.

As a trainer

From April 2012, Schreiber coached FC Poggersdorf , for which he was also active as a player from the 2012/13 season. In August 2013, Poggersdorf separated from him. From January 2014 he trained the SF Rückersdorf .

For the 2014/15 season he became assistant coach of the fourth-class SVG Bleiburg , for which he had already been active as a player. In January 2015 he became the club's head coach. He resigned from his post in August 2015.

In March 2018, Schreiber became Franz Polanz's assistant coach at the regional league team SK Austria Klagenfurt . With Austria Klagenfurt he rose to the second division at the end of the season . After the Klagenfurters separated from Polanz in October 2018, Schreiber took over the club for one game on an interim basis until Robert Micheu took office .
