Christian Schulze (born June 8, 1970 in Hamm ) is a German classical philologist , biologist and medical historian .

Life

He attended the elementary school Welver (1977-1981) and the Marien-Gymnasium Werl (1981-1990), where he passed the Abitur on May 22, 1990 . From 1990 to 1996 he studied biology and Latin at the Ruhr University Bochum , where he passed the first state examination in biology / Latin on June 3, 1996 for teaching at secondary level I / II. From 1996 to 1999 he was a research assistant at the Fontes Christiani publication office . At the same time, he completed a doctoral degree in Latin Studies from 1996 to 1999 with the minor subjects Greek and pedagogy. On April 8, 1999, he received his doctorate summa cum laude in Classical Philology . On December 6, 1999, he was awarded the 1st prize for 1999 by the Ruhr University in Bochum for his dissertation . From 1999 to 2003 he headed the Graduate School GRK 237 The Commentary in Antiquity and the Middle Ages as coordinator and postdoctoral fellow (1999). After his habilitation (1999–2002) in the history of medicine as a research assistant in the DFG project The Penetration of Theology and Medicine in Late Antiquity and the Early Middle Ages: Christian Doctors as mediators of Graeco-Oriental knowledge transfer , he became a private lecturer on July 2, 2003 Appointed for History of Medicine. From 2002 to 2005 Schulze was a research associate in the DFG project Edition and Commentary on Hildegard von Bingen's 'Physica' . From February 2005 to January 2006 he was a student trainee in Hagen. Since February 2006 he teaches as a teacher at the Ernst-Barlach-Gymnasium Unna , since 2010 as a senior teacher. From October 2006 to March 2007 he was also a research assistant at the chair for moral theology at the Ruhr University Bochum (for interdisciplinary events moral theology / history of medicine). Since October 2007 he has been a lecturer at the Department of Classical Philology at the Ruhr University Bochum (for Greek, Latin and religious studies). In the 2015 summer semester, he took over the professorship for Latin Studies II at the Ruhr University in Bochum.
