Christian Trull (born December 4, 1946 in Göttingen ) is a major general a. D. the Bundeswehr .

Life

Christian Trull, son of an officer, joined the armored forces of the German Armed Forces on October 1, 1966 as an officer candidate . From 1966 to 1969 he was trained as an officer in Panzer Battalion 183 in Boostedt . From 1969 to 1974 he served as a platoon leader officer and troop telecommunications officer in Panzerbataillon 84 in Lüneburg , where he was then used as a company commander of a tank company until 1978 .

From 1978 to 1980 he completed the general staff course at the command academy of the Bundeswehr in Hamburg .

From 1980 to 1983 Trull served as G2 on the staff of the 11th Panzer Grenadier Division in Oldenburg , which was followed by the course at Staff College in Camberley / Great Britain . From 1984 to 1986 he was Deputy Military Attaché in London . This was followed by a management assignment as commander of the 154th Panzer Battalion in Westerburg from 1986 to 1988. This was followed by a ministerial assignment in the Federal Ministry of Defense (Command Staff of the Armed Forces II) in Bonn.

From 1990 to 1992 Trull served in the German part of the AFCENT headquarters in Brunssum in the Netherlands and from 1992 to 1995 as chief of staff in WBK VIII and the 14th Panzer Grenadier Division in Neubrandenburg under the then major general and later general inspector Hans-Peter von Kirchbach .

From then on he went through a large number of senior leadership positions, including as Colonel from October 1, 1995 to 1999, commander of Panzer Brigade 18 "Holstein" in Neumünster , during which time he was appointed Brigadier General . He then became general of the armored troops and commander of the armored troop school in Munster . On September 1, 2002, he took command of the 14th Panzer Grenadier Division in Neubrandenburg and was appointed major general. In 2004 he completed a six-month assignment abroad as deputy commander of the International Security Assistance Force ( ISAF ) in Kabul. Before he retired on January 1, 2008, Trull was deputy commander of the Army Command in Koblenz from January 13, 2005 . In this role, he also led the German part (DtA) of the Franco-German Brigade .

In June 2017, he conveyed his attitude to the Bundeswehr's posture problem raised by the Defense Minister in an interview with Martin Eich from the FAZ .
