Christiane Charlotte from Württemberg-Winnental

Christiane Charlotte von Württemberg-Winnental (born August 28, 1694 in Kirchheim unter Teck , † December 25, 1729 in Ansbach ) was a princess from the Württemberg-Winnental line, margravine by marriage and after the death of her husband from 1723 to 1729 regent of the principality Ansbach .

Christiane Charlotte came from the marriage of the Württemberg Duke Friedrich Karl from the Württemberg-Winnental line with Eleonore Juliane von Brandenburg-Ansbach , a daughter of the Margrave Albrecht II of Ansbach . She spent her youth in Winnental Castle in Winnenden . Since her father died in 1698, Johann Osiander took care of her upbringing.

On August 28, 1709, she married her cousin in Stuttgart, the Ansbach Margrave Wilhelm Friedrich from the Hohenzollern family . In the period that followed, she was committed to promoting trade (such as the faience manufacturer von Wasenmühle founded in September 1709 ) and construction (redesigning the princely residence). Their first child was Karl Wilhelm Friedrich (1712–1757), followed by the other children, Eleonore (1713–1714) and Friedrich Karl (1715–1716), who died early. She is also considered to be the driving force behind the foundation of the public palace library in Ansbach in 1720, which also received her private book collections after her death.

After the death of her husband in 1723, she took over the rule of the principality as "Obervormunderin and state regent" until her eldest son came of age. As regent, she carried out several large building projects and was committed to art, science and social affairs. So she commissioned z. B. the construction of the Ansbach widow's house for socially disadvantaged women. Bruckberg Castle (acquired in 1715, new building from 1727) is considered to be the "educational center" for your son. With her building projects, she continued the debt policy of her predecessors: in 1725 she continued the expansion of the residence, supplemented by the orangery in 1726. She was no longer able to realize her plans for a university in Ansbach because she became seriously ill in 1727.

During her time as regent, she also arranged for her son to be educated in order to prepare him for taking over government: his travels took him to Holland, Berlin and France; In 1726 she got him engaged to Friederike Luise von Prussia . Fatally ill, she had her newlywed son transferred to power on July 1, 1729. Her coffin is now in the burial place of the margraves in the church of St. Gumbertus in Ansbach.
