Christiane Kohl (* in Frankfurt am Main ) is a German singer ( soprano ) in operas, operettas and concerts.

Life

Christiane Kohl grew up in Idstein . After graduating from the Pestalozzi-Gymnasium, she studied at the Mozarteum in Salzburg with Lilian Sukis and Elisabeth Wilke and graduated in 2003.

She made her debut at the Salzburg Festival in 2000 as First Priestess in Gluck's Iphigénie en Tauride , directed by Ivor Bolton . In 2001, on the occasion of Gian Carlo Menotti's 90th birthday, she sang Laetitia in his opera The Old Maid and the Thief at the Vienna Chamber Opera . From 2002 to 2009 she was a member of the Zurich Opera House , where she took on roles such as Gretel in Humperdinck's Hansel and Gretel , Soeur Constance in Poulencs Dialogues des Carmélites , Rosina in La finta semplice , Arminda in La finta giardiniera , Angèle Didier in Lehárs Der Graf von Luxemburg , Elvira in Rossini's L'italiana in Algeri , Lisa in Bellini's La sonnambula , Musetta in Puccini's La Bohème , the First Lady in Mozart's Die Zauberflöte , as well as the Wagner parts Helmwige in Die Walküre and Third Norn in Götterdämmerung . In 2008 she appeared as Christine in the opera Intermezzo by Richard Strauss, directed by Peter Schneider .

She first appeared at the Bayreuth Festival in 2009 in the Wagner roles of First Flower Girl in Parsifal , conducted by Daniele Gatti , Woglinde in both Das Rheingold and Götterdämmerung , and Waldvogel in Siegfried , conducted by Christian Thielemann . She sang these roles again in 2010.

Since 2008 she sang Lisa in Lehár's Das Land des Smiles at the Vienna Volksoper ,

In 2008 she took part in a recording of the Christmas Oratorio by Gottfried August Homilius at the Frauenkirche Dresden , with the Saxon Vocal Ensemble and the Virtuosi Saxoniae , directed by Ludwig Güttler .

In 2008 she sang Mozart's Requiem and Bach's Easter Oratorio with the Zurich Tonhalle Orchestra with the Zurich Mixed Choir , and in 2010 Bruckner's Mass in F minor .

In 2010 she sang for the first time at the Frankfurt Opera , the role of Helmwige in the new production of Wagner's Die Walküre . In St. Martin, Idstein she sang the soprano solo in Verdi's Messa da Requiem . In February 2011 she sang the first soprano in Mendelssohn's hymn of praise in the Union Church of her hometown . In 2011 she sang the role of Countess in Mozart's Le nozze di Figaro in Klagenfurt for the first time . She sang the title role in The Bartered Bride at the Komische Oper Berlin . 2011–2015 she was part of the ensemble at the Dortmund Opera House , where she appeared in the first production of the new opera director Jens-Daniel Herzog, as Senta in Wagner's Der fiegen Holländer , directed by Jac van Steen , with Andreas Macco in the title role.
