Christiane Michel-Ostertun (born April 26, 1964 in Aalen ) is professor for liturgical organ playing and improvisation, organist , composer and choir director .

Life

Christiane Michel-Ostertun, who grew up in Kiel , received piano, cello and organ lessons during her school days. She studied church music from 1983 to 1988 at the Northwest German Music Academy in Detmold ( Gerhard Weinberger , Renate Zimmermann , Alexander Wagner ), alongside piano studies (E. Nentwig-von Heimberger) with the completion of the state music teacher examination. In 1988 she passed the A-examination , afterwards she pursued an artistic training in the subject organ in Stuttgart ( Jon Laukvik ) and Karlsruhe ( Andreas Schröder ) with final matriculation examination in 1991 and concert examination in 1993. In addition to multiple prizes at " Jugend musiziert ", Christiane Michel- In 1986 Ostertun won 2nd prize at the Frankfurt improvisation competition.

She was already teaching as an assistant to Alexander Wagner (choir director) and Renate Zimmermann (organ improvisation) while studying church music . In 1987 she taught as part of the C training in Paderborn , and in 1988 and 1989, respectively, she received teaching assignments for liturgical organ playing and improvisation at the universities of church music in Herford and Heidelberg . Appointment to a professorship for this subject in Herford in 1993 . She participates in advanced training courses for full-time and part-time church musicians and also teaches methodology for organ improvisation. She played concerts in Germany , Austria , Switzerland , Norway and Singapore . Since 2011 she has performed with silent film improvisations. Jurorships at various competitions for improvisation and composition round off her profile.

She worked as a choir director during her studies in Senne near Bielefeld . After assisting and replacing vacancies, she took over the leadership of the choir for sacred music in Ludwigshafen in 1999, and in 2011 also the Mannheim Chamber Choir Cantabile ( until 2017 Concerto cantabile) . She has intensified her work as a composer since composing the scenic oratorio Martin Luther , writing works for organ, choir and wind instruments. She has been married to Robert Schmiederer since 2011 and her real name has been Christiane Schmiederer since then. She lives in Mannheim and has three children from her first marriage to Johannes Matthias Michel .
