Christina Honsel (born July 7, 1997 in Dorsten , North Rhine-Westphalia ) is a German athlete who specializes in the high jump .

career path

Honsel is studying economics for a bachelor's degree at the TU Dortmund .

Athletic career

Christina Honsel started athletics at the age of six.

In 2015 she became German U20 high jump champion.

In 2016, Honsel won bronze at the German Youth Indoor Championships in the U20 age group and came in 6th at the German Indoor Championships . In the middle of the year she suffered a fatigue fracture in her foot.

In 2017, Honsel came 4th after her injury break at the German U23 championships and reached 5th place at the German championships .

In 2018 she became German U23 runner-up , but only finished 10th at the German championships due to a previous injury .

In 2019, Honsel won bronze at the German Indoor Championships and became German U23 runner-up . When she made her debut in the national jersey, setting her personal best of 1.92 m, she was U23 Vice European Champion . She reached 5th place at the German Championships with 1.80 m and was eliminated with the same height at the World Championships in the qualification.

At the German Athletics Championships 2020 in Braunschweig, Honsel was German champion with a height of 1.90 m. It only just failed at the height of 1.93 m.

Honsel is in the junior squad 1 U23 of the German Athletics Association (DLV) .

Club membership

Honsel started for TV Wattenscheid 01 in January 2020 . Before that she started for the LG Olympia Dortmund in 2017 and before that for the LG Dorsten . Your home club is TSC Eintracht Dortmund .
