Christine Edda Antorini (born May 23, 1965 in Jyllinge near Roskilde ) is a Danish politician of the Social Democrats . From October 3, 2011 to June 28, 2015, she was Minister for Children and Education in the government of Prime Minister Helle Thorning-Schmidt .

family

Antorini's father was a milk dealer and his mother a teacher . The last name comes from the family on the mother's side. Antorini has two grown children. She has been divorced since 1995.

education and profession

After attending Roskilder Himmelev-Gymnasium, Antorini studied political science at Aarhus University from 1985 to 1987 . Between 1989 and 1994 she studied public administration at Roskilde University .

After completing her studies, she worked in the communications department of the hearing aid manufacturer Oticon from 1995 to 1997 . After she had unsuccessfully applied for a seat in the Folketing several times , she was elected to parliament in the 1998 Folketing election in the Østre Storkreds constituency. However, she resigned her mandate on November 30, 1999 to become head of the consumer center ( Forbruger information ). From 2003 she was the presenter of the television program “Deadline” on DR 2 , before she became a clerk at the Trade and Office Workers Association ( Handels- og Kontorffunktionærernes Forbund , HK) from 2004 to 2005 .

In 1999 Antorini received the Nina Bang Prize from the LO trade union confederation , and in 2002 she was awarded the Consumer Prize of the Association of Danish Consumer Cooperatives ( Fællesforeningen for Danmarks Brugsforeninger ).

From 2001 to 2004 Antorini worked in the think tank of the Academy of Technical Sciences ( Akademiet for de Tekniske Videnskaber ); From 2003 to 2004 she was chairman of the committee for research communication in the Ministry of Science and since 2004 a member of the Technical Security Council ( Det Tekniske Sikkerhedsråd ).

In addition to her parliamentary work, she worked from 2005 to 2006 as an advisor to the fishing companyRoyal Greenland ” and since 2006 has been a member of VL-13, a network of executives from the private and public sectors.

politics

During his studies, Antorini sat on the state board of the youth organization SFU of the Socialist People's Party (SF) from 1983 to 1988 . From 1988 to 1998 she was a member of the party executive committee of the SF, from 1991 to 1998 as deputy party chairman. From 1999 to 2002 she was active in the working committee of Nyt Europa , a federalist-pro-European organization.

In 2002 she moved from the SF to the Social Democratic Party . In the Folketing elections in 2005 she was able to win a seat in the constituency of Søndre Storkreds . In 2007 and 2011 she successfully competed in Nordsjællands Storkreds .
