history
The Christkönig Church was built in 1953/54 according to plans by Otto Weicken . It replaced the St. Josef Chapel in Bad Meinberg, built in 1907.
architecture
The church is long and rectangular with a high tower bar in plastered masonry. On both sides of the nave under the pitched roof there are low side aisles under pent roofs . The tower under the hipped roof has sound openings on each side.
The church interior is illuminated by rectangular windows in the white wall surfaces. The choir, which has been raised by five steps, is drawn in on the sides and above and is closed off by a wooden ceiling. In the main nave, the wooden ceiling is divided by segmental arches.
Furnishing
The glass pictures in the side chapel are by Sister Hildegard Birks from 1954. Sister Erentrud Trost created the windows in the choir in 1995 . On the altar wall there is a monumental Christ the King relief with evangelists by Emil Sutor . The ambo and the tabernacle grill were made by Michael Winkelmann in 1974. Erich Jaeckel and Ernst Mischke created the wooden figures.
