Christoph Albrecht von Ostau (born March 31, 1735 , † June 3, 1805 in Königsberg ) was a Prussian Real Privy Councilor and Minister .

Life

Origin and family

Christoph Albrecht was a member of the Prussian noble family von Ostau . He was a son of the Prussian lieutenant colonel and heir to Kleschowen , Groß Sausgarthen and Wolfshöfen Fabian Albrecht von Ostau (1686–1742) and his fourth wife Luise Juliane von Derschau a. d. H. Gross Saussgarthen (1712-1801).

From his marriage to Anna Juliane von Burghagen († 1784) he had eight daughters, including:

  • Maria Elisabeth von Ostau (1769–1795), ⚭ 1788 Johann Gottlieb Christoph von Kleist (1744–1807), Herr auf Garbnicken and Damen

Career

Ostau studied law at the Albertus University in Königsberg from 1749 . In January 1756 he began his career as a trainee lawyer at the Königsberg court court . Around 1760/1761 he was appointed by the Russians director of the judicial college in Neuhausen and 1762 commissioner in Insterburg . In September 1763 he became a war and domain councilor as well as legal advisor of the Königsberg Chamber.

He later became president of the Klevisch-Mark War and Domain Chamber . His request for resignation from this position was granted only to the extent that he became General Landscape Director of East Prussia . In 1788, King Friedrich Wilhelm II appointed him as the successor to Melchior Ernst von Knobloch as the Real Secret Budget Minister and member of the East Prussian Budget Ministry, as well as the Oberburggrave of the Kingdom of Prussia. Ostau was ultimately the real secret budget and war minister.

He was also the heir to Lablacken , Frödau and Tactau .
