Christoph Ehmann

Christoph Ehmann (* 7. March 1943 in Bielefeld ), State Secretary i. R. , is a German political scientist , educational researcher and administrator.

Life

After graduating from high school in Gladbeck in 1962 and three years of military service, Ehmann studied political science , international law and sociology in Marburg from 1965 to 1971 . His academic teachers included u. a. Wolfgang Abendroth . During his studies, Ehmann was involved in the Humanist Student Union , was AStA chairman in Marburg in 1967/68 and was elected chairman of the Association of German Student Unions (VDS) in spring 1968 - at the height of the student unrest .

After completing his master's degree in 1971, Ehmann initially worked for the "University Association for Distance Learning " and for the German Education Council . In 1977 he did his doctorate with Frank Deppe on "Distance learning in Germany" and then took over the management of the planning department of the newly founded University of Hagen . In 1979 he moved to the Federal Institute for Vocational Education and Training as a department head , was from 1986 to 1994 head of the office for vocational and continuing education in the authority for schools, youth and vocational training in Hamburg and finally from 1994 to 1997 State Secretary in the Ministry of Culture in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania .

After the transfer to temporary retirement, Ehmann worked on the Education Advisory Council of the Hans Böckler Foundation (1997-2001) and led research projects at the German Youth Institute and the German Institute for Adult Education .

Since 1993 Ehmann has had a teaching position for further education and extracurricular youth education at the Philipps University of Marburg , which appointed him honorary professor in 2004 . From 2003 to 2017 Ehmann was Secretary General of the European University Foundation - Campus Europae , based in Luxembourg .
