Christoph Faesch

Christoph Faesch (born August 5, 1611 ; † October 22, 1683 ) was a Swiss historian .

Faesch obtained on December 12, 1626 at the University of Basel the degree of a Baccalaureus artium and then studied law . He undertook an educational trip to Geneva (April 1630), Paris (May 1630), Bourges (December 1630), Oxford (June 1631), London (June / July 1631) and returned to Basel via Holland and Germany . He also made a one-year trip to Italy . On April 13, 1638 Faesch passed the exam pro gradu . On October 29, 1644 he obtained the degree of JDD. On May 30, 1645 Faesch was appointed professor of logic . On March 25, 1659 he became the first professor of history at the University of Basel. The newly established chair belonged to the field of camera sciences , which served to train state officials. In 1672/73 Faesch was rector of the University of Basel.
