Christoph Gerwers (born January 27, 1963 in Bislich ) is a German politician ( CDU ). He is the full-time mayor of the Lower Rhine city ​​of Rees .

Life

He graduated from high school in 1982 at the Konrad-Duden-Gymnasium Wesel , which was still called the State Old and New Language Gymnasium Wesel during his schooling there and from 1977 onwards the City Gymnasium Wesel Nord . He then studied law at the Westphalian Wilhelms University in Münster . He passed his first state examination in 1988 at the Hamm Higher Regional Court and his second state examination in 1991 at the State Judicial Examination Office . From 1991 to 1992 he was a consultant for water law at the Federal Association of the German Gas and Water Management in Bonn , then head of the legal and regulatory office of the city of Willich , and from 1995 also head of the school and sport department. From 1997 he was in Willich Assistant Secretary for Youth / Social, school / sports / culture and inhabitants / order. He was re-elected in this position in 2005. From July 2008 to October 2009 he was first alderman. Parallel to his legal training and his work in Willich, he was a city ​​councilor in Wesel from 1989 to 1998 .

From 2001 to 2010, Christoph Gerwers was honorary chairman of the DRK , Willich local association and, since 2007, a member of the advisory board of the Katharinen Hospital Willich.

Since October 21, 2009, Christoph Gerwers has been the full-time mayor of Rees as the successor to Bruno Ketteler, who is no longer in office . In the mayoral election of 2009 he was elected with 54.85 percent of the valid votes and a turnout of 52.30 percent, in the mayoral election of 2015 Christoph Gerwers was re-elected with 66.6 percent of the valid votes.
