Christoph Jauernik (born March 20, 1984 in Eisenach ) is a German handball trainer and former handball player .
Player career
Christoph Jauernik started playing handball in his home town at SG Schnellmannshausen . In the C-youth age he switched to ThSV Eisenach . There he played with Benjamin Trautvetter , Stefan Kneer and Philipp Seitle, among others . In 2003 he moved to third division TV Jahn Duderstadt . The two following seasons 2004/2005 and 2005/2006 he was active at the second division HSG Niestetal-Staufenberg . After the insolvency of HSG Niestetal-Staufenberg, he joined the second division TUSPO Obernburg in 2006 . In 2007 Jauernik moved back to his youth club ThSV Eisenach. At the age of 26 he had to end his active career because of a shoulder injury.
Coaching career
Since 2010 he has taken on various tasks at ThSV Eisenach as a junior coach and assistant coach for the Bundesliga team. In 2013 he successfully passed the DHB A license exam. In 2014, he was promoted to JBLH for the first time in the history of ThSV Eisenach as a youth coach .
In July 2016 he became head coach at ThSV Eisenach. He finished his first season in the professional field in 7th place in the 2nd Bundesliga . In December 2017 he was released from his duties as coach of the 1st team of ThSV Eisenach .
Since the 2019/20 season he has been coaching the Dutch first division club Limburg Lions . In the 2019/20 season he and his team reached the runner-up in the BENE-League handball . After the end of the season, the KEMBIT Lions took 1st place in the Dutch championship.
Others
Christoph Jauernik was a student at the Elisabeth Gymnasium in Eisenach , where he graduated from high school in 2002. He studied to be a grammar school teacher in the subjects of sport and mathematics at the Georg-August University in Göttingen . In 2014 he successfully completed his legal traineeship and worked as a teacher at the Martin Luther Gymnasium in Eisenach until 2019 .
