Christoph Kessler (born April 28, 1995 in Donaueschingen ) is a German athlete who specializes in medium-distance runs , especially the 800-meter run .

career path

Kessler studies at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT).

Athletic career

Christoph Kessler celebrated his first small successes in the U18 age group over the 2000 meter obstacle at the Baden-Württemberg Championships 2011/2012 and at the South German Championships over the 1500 meters. Back then, the Black Forrest started for the LG Baar / LV Donaueschingen.

After graduating from high school in 2013, he moved to the LG Region Karlsruhe to study process engineering at KIT . Since then he has been trained by Günther Scheefer.

The move to Karlsruhe in a large and high-performance training group helped the young athlete to jump in performance and win the German championship in 2014 over the 800 meters of the MJ U20.
In 2015 he established himself in the German medium-distance competition. He reached the 2nd place in the German U23 championships over the 800 meters.
Two weeks too late, he ran the norm for the U20 World Championships in Eugene (USA) and thus missed his role at international level.

He won many titles at the South German / BaWü championships. Kessler continuously increased his best times over the 800/1500 meters.

In 2016, he surprised the athletes with third place at the German Indoor Championships in Leipzig and was German U23 champion over the 800 meters in July .

In 2017, Kessler became European team champion in Lille in northern France , and finished 9th in the 800-meter run . Over this distance, the Allgemeine Deutsche Hochschulsportverband (adh) nominated him in mid-July for the Summer Universiade in Taipei , where he made it to the semifinals.
