Christopher Abbott (born February 1, 1986 in Greenwich , Connecticut ) is an American actor .

Abbott moved to New York City in 2006 to study at the HB Studio Theater School . From 2008 he played first theater roles on Off-Broadway . In 2011 he made his feature film debut with Martha Marcy May Marlene , in the same year he starred in the Broadway play The House of Blue Leaves . In the series Girls he played the character Charlie Dattolo from 2012 .

In particular, his portrayal of James White in the film of the same name earned him the Chlotrudis Award and numerous independent prize nominations. In 2017 he appeared as Mason Tannetti in the series The Sinner . In 2018 he played the astronaut David Scott in the biography Departure for the Moon .

In the adaptation of the classic novel Catch-22 by Joseph Heller as a miniseries , which was published in Germany in 2019 by the streaming service Prime Video , he took on the leading role as Yossarian.

Private

He has been in a relationship with Olivia Cooke since 2016 .
